Class description:
A workshop designed to help artists and craftspeople to improve their business and marketing capacity, providing a more in-depth look at the use of www.etsy.com and other media for marketing and selling artwork and handmade items. The workshop will cover:
- A more in-depth look at Etsy, focusing on successful sellers
- Blogging and how artists use blogs to promote their work
- Using social media to market your work - a look at facebook, twitter, flickr, and other social networking sites
- A look at some other sites for selling handmade items, such as ArtFire and 1000 Markets
- Basic product photography demo
- An overview of places to find help for marketing your business online, such as the Storque Seller Tips series, the Design*Sponge small business series, Poppytalk, etc
- LeBrie's press release talk + handout
- Questions, answers and review session
Special notes and items to bring:
NO supplies needed, however if students already have Etsy shops they should email Christine with a link to their shop so we can take a look at it beforehand.

Read this before you register
- DIY Lounge is located at collage, a locally owned business that sells art supplies with a class space in the back. We have two locations in the Portland, Oregon area.
Visit our locations page addresses and directions. - On average we require a minimum of 3 students to run a class. Class minimums are decided by teachers depending on the needs of the class. If registration is lower, the class will be cancelled and any students who have registered will be notified via email.
- If a class is cancelled we can apply your payment toward another class registration or refund your money in full. Your choice!
- Online pre-registration is required, but exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis. If you require an exception, please use our contact page and let us know your situation.
- At least 48 hour notice is required if you need to cancel your class registration.
- Be sure to check the supply list provided in the class notes and bring those items with you to the class.
